Dating Profiles: Women's Confidence and Self-Perception in Online Dating You might be under the impression that women who use online dating know exactly what they want to look like and are confident in themselves. There are a lot of cougar dating sites here in Long Beach, for example, that are full of sexy cougars who seem to have so much confidence. It's pretty great to see so many high octane women with such great online dating profiles. But have you ever wondered what women think about their own profiles? Have you realized that what women wear is the main factor that will make you attracted to them? No matter how old a woman is, she will always be self-conscious. I know some young ladies here in Long Beach that are just self-conscious even though they dress like supermodels and are more beautiful than anyone else I know. It comes down to psychology, which is all about self-perception and perceived image of oneself in relation to others. Even on the cougar dating sites I use I can see it happening everywhere. Online dating is all about image and self-perception, which is why it's important to know what women think about themselves online, what they think about their online dating profiles in particular.

What Women Wear

Clothing ties into branding, self-perception, attitude, even daily mood. Some women like to dress flashy and show themselves on their online dating profiles to be high octane, full of excitement, and just generally badass. Does that mean that they are actually all of those things? Hell no. Think about Kim Kardashian - what would her online dating profile look like if she had one? It would probably be super flashy and full of bravado. As I said, when it comes to online dating that is the norm. But is Kim Kardashian a domineering personality that takes over the room when she walks in? Not at all. Kim is a very friendly and down to earth women that would stop and chat with you about your dog if she saw you on the street. That clashes with her online persona, which is full on badass. So that's my example to show you that anyone can look badass online, but most people are not. Most woman identify very strongly with their fashion sense. Here in Long Beach especially, where looks are the most important thing. What women wear is important around here, because it implies if they are feeling serious or full of fun. When it comes to online dating profiles, the same thing is true everywhere, not just in Long Beach. Image is everything when it comes to online dating, and woman think a lot about presenting the most badass version of themselves. Women are also deeply insecure about their looks. That means that profile pics might change every week or so, as they change up their look. I know a women here in Long Beach who dyes her hair every single week, and then changes her online dating profile picture to match it. In general, woman in online dating have a lot of insecurities about their looks because they know that first impressions are everything, but you still don't want to be seen as a slut. Or wearing sluty clothing, or anything like that.

What Women Think

This is the second major thing to consider when it comes to online dating. Usually the older the lady the less intense this issue is. For example, there are tons of cougar sites in Long Beach and beyond. On these cougar sites you are only gonna meet badass older women who don't care what you think about them. It's pretty nice being around a liberated woman like that, who will cut her hair off and there's nothing you can do about. Younger women in the world of online dating are different though. They are very much tied up in worrying about their body, and what people think of them. I have seen a lot of online dating profiles of women that just seem to be totally shy and have no confidence. It's a complete turn-off, no question. Women from about 19-35 are usually not as confident as we think, even if they are drop-dead sexy. I think the reason for all this anxiety has to do with wanting to please other people and just not get in the way. I find these kinds of traits kind of annoying because you want someone with a bit of spunk and attitude - but definitely a lot of women need to be constantly reminded they are beautiful. It has a lot to do with our image based consumer society and an online dating world that is all about first impressions. If you're wondering what women think, it's probably that they are not attractive and will never be able to seduce anyone. Knowing this can come to your advantage though, just as long as you don't get too pushy or persistent with a women who seem really strong but is actually extremely weak.
